Overview

Anti-HER2-CAR-T cell therapy is an autologous cellular immunotherapy consisting of T cells genetically engineered to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) that specifically targets the Human Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor 2 (HER2). HER2 is a tyrosine kinase receptor that is frequently overexpressed in various solid tumors, including breast, gastric, and lung cancers, where it promotes cell proliferation and survival. Upon administration, these engineered T cells recognize and bind to HER2-expressing tumor cells, leading to T-cell activation, the release of cytotoxic cytokines, and the direct lysis of the cancer cells. This specific program is being investigated by China Medical University in Phase 1 clinical trials for patients with HER2-positive locally advanced or metastatic solid tumors.
