COGNANO's anti-HIV-1 Env VHH is a preclinical-stage nanobody (single-domain antibody) designed to target the HIV-1 envelope (Env) protein. Developed using COGNANO's proprietary alpaca-derived VHH platform, this candidate aims to neutralize HIV-1 by binding to conserved epitopes on the Env glycoprotein, which is essential for viral entry into host CD4+ T cells. As a nanobody, it offers potential advantages over traditional monoclonal antibodies, including smaller size for better tissue penetration and the ability to access cryptic or recessed epitopes on the viral surface. It is currently being explored as a proof-of-concept therapeutic for HIV-1 infection and AIDS.
