Overview

Anti-HU177 antibody is a monoclonal antibody that selectively targets the HU177 cryptic collagen neo-epitope, a specific molecular marker generated during the structural remodeling of the extracellular matrix (ECM) in tumor development. By binding to this neo-epitope, the antibody inhibits its interaction with the integrin receptor alpha-10 beta-1 (A10B1). This blockade leads to reduced nuclear accumulation of the transcriptional co-activator YAP and decreased phosphorylation of cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (CDK5), as well as reduced expression of the phosphatase PTPN12. Preclinical research, primarily conducted at the Maine Medical Center, has demonstrated that targeting the HU177 neo-epitope can inhibit melanoma cell adhesion, migration, tumor-angiogenesis, and metastasis in vivo.
