Drug intelligence / Profile preview
An anti-ICAM-1 monoclonal antibody is a type of targeted biologic therapy designed to bind to Intercellular Adhesion Molecule-1 (ICAM-1, also known as CD54). ICAM-1 is a cell surface glycoprotein expressed on endothelial cells, epithelial cells, and immune cells, playing a key role in leukocyte adhesion, migration, and inflammatory responses. It also serves as the entry receptor for major group rhinoviruses (such as RV16). Blocking ICAM-1 with monoclonal antibodies has been investigated for various therapeutic indications, including the prevention of transplant rejection, treatment of ischemic stroke, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple myeloma, and viral respiratory infections.
