The anti-IL-13Rα2 neutralizing antibody is a research-stage biologic designed to selectively block the Interleukin-13 receptor subunit alpha-2 (IL-13Rα2). IL-13Rα2 is a high-affinity decoy receptor that typically sequesters the cytokine IL-13, preventing it from signaling through the canonical IL-13Rα1/STAT6 pathway. By neutralizing this decoy receptor, the antibody increases the bioavailability of IL-13, which has been shown to promote the resolution of inflammation and accelerate tissue repair in preclinical models. Research indicates potential therapeutic applications in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), particularly Crohn's disease, and in promoting airway epithelial repair in asthma. The antibody is highly selective for IL-13Rα2 and does not cross-react with the signaling receptor IL-13Rα1.
