Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The anti-IL-20RB antibody is a monoclonal antibody that targets the interleukin-20 receptor subunit beta (IL-20RB), a shared component of the heterodimeric receptor complexes for the IL-20 subfamily of cytokines, including IL-19, IL-20, and IL-24. In the context of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), chronic exposure to cigarette smoke induces the expression of IL-20RB in the airway epithelium. Signaling through this receptor by IL-20 cytokines has been shown to impair epithelial wound healing and repair processes under stress conditions. By neutralizing IL-20RB, the antibody blocks these inhibitory signals and promotes epithelial cell proliferation, thereby restoring the integrity of the airway epithelial barrier. This therapeutic approach is being explored to address the defective repair mechanisms and chronic inflammation characteristic of COPD and other mucosal inflammatory diseases.
