anti-IL-25 antibody

An anti-IL-25 antibody is a monoclonal antibody designed to target and neutralize interleukin-25 (IL-25, also known as IL-17E), an upstream alarmin cytokine that plays a critical role in initiating and amplifying type 2 (Th2) immune responses. By binding to IL-25, the antibody prevents its interaction with the heterodimeric receptor complex composed of IL-17RA and IL-17RB. This blockade suppresses the downstream activation of type 2 innate lymphoid cells (ILC2s) and Th2 helper T cells, thereby inhibiting the release of key pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-4, IL-5, and IL-13. Anti-IL-25 antibodies are being investigated for the treatment of various Th2-mediated inflammatory and allergic diseases, including asthma, atopic dermatitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
