Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Signal26 Biotherapeutics is developing a monoclonal antibody targeting interleukin-26 (IL-26) for the treatment of chronic inflammatory diseases. Developed in collaboration with the Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois (CHUV), this therapeutic agent is designed to bind and neutralize IL-26, a Th17 cytokine implicated in the pathogenesis of several autoimmune conditions. By blocking IL-26's interaction with DNA and its subsequent activation of innate immune cells, the antibody prevents downstream interferon-driven inflammatory responses. The primary clinical focus is palmoplantar pustular psoriasis (PPPP), a condition currently lacking approved treatments, with additional research exploring its potential in rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease.
