Drug intelligence / Profile preview
An anti-IL-32 antibody is a monoclonal antibody designed to target and neutralize interleukin-32 (IL-32), a pro-inflammatory cytokine implicated in various autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. IL-32 is known to induce other inflammatory cytokines, such as TNF-alpha, IL-1beta, and IL-6, and is upregulated in conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, and chronic kidney disease. Preclinical research, such as studies conducted at the University of Rochester, has demonstrated that blocking IL-32 with neutralizing antibodies can reduce synovial inflammation and pannus area in humanized mouse models of psoriatic arthritis that are inadequate responders to TNF inhibitors. Although several research-grade anti-IL-32 antibodies exist, therapeutic candidates targeting this pathway remain in early preclinical development.
