Drug intelligence / Profile preview
anti-IL-5R monoclonal antibody biosimilar is a preclinical-stage biologic drug candidate being developed by Saya Bio. It is a biosimilar monoclonal antibody targeting the interleukin-5 receptor alpha subunit (IL-5Rα/CD125), which is expressed on eosinophils and basophils. By binding to IL-5Rα, the antibody inhibits IL-5 receptor signaling and prevents IL-5-mediated eosinophil survival and activation. The reference biologic for this class is benralizumab (Fasenra). It is currently in cell line development in the United States for the potential treatment of severe eosinophilic asthma and other eosinophil-mediated inflammatory diseases.
