Drug intelligence / Profile preview
anti-integrin α3 activating antibody is a preclinical-stage monoclonal antibody being developed by Allosite Therapeutics in collaboration with Rush University Medical School and the University of Texas Medical Branch. It is designed as an allosteric agonist of the integrin α3β1 heterodimer, which is highly expressed on kidney podocytes and is essential for their attachment to the glomerular basement membrane. By binding to the α3 head domain and stabilizing the active conformation of integrin α3β1, the antibody enhances podocyte adhesion, preserves cytoskeletal stability, and prevents podocyte detachment and loss. This therapeutic approach is being investigated for the treatment of glomerular diseases, specifically focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and chemotherapy-induced nephrotoxicity.
