anti-Kv 11.1 antibody-conjugated PEG-TiO2 is an experimental nanoconjugate designed for the targeted treatment and imaging of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). The system consists of titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanocrystals synthesized via a solvothermal method, which are then coated with dicarboxylic acid-terminated polyethylene glycol (PEG). This PEG layer provides biocompatibility and functional groups for the conjugation of a monoclonal antibody (IgG) targeting the Kv 11.1 (hERG) potassium channel. The Kv 11.1 channel is a specific tumor marker that is overexpressed on the plasma membrane of PDAC cells but is largely absent in normal pancreatic tissue. This conjugate allows for the specific recognition and internalization of TiO2 nanoparticles into cancer cells, where they can potentially act as photosensitizers for photodynamic or sonodynamic therapies. The formulation is reported to be non-cytotoxic in its inactive state, offering a selective delivery platform for therapeutic agents.
