The anti-LAG-3 IgG4 antibody is a monoclonal antibody designed to target the Lymphocyte Activation Gene-3 (LAG-3), an inhibitory checkpoint receptor expressed on the surface of activated T cells. LAG-3 negatively regulates T-cell activation and effector functions upon binding to its ligands, such as MHC class II molecules, contributing to T-cell exhaustion in the tumor microenvironment. By blocking this interaction, the antibody aims to restore T-cell activity and enhance anti-tumor immune responses. The IgG4 isotype is typically selected for these therapeutic antibodies to provide potent pathway blockade while minimizing effector functions like antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC).
