Overview
Anti-LDL receptor-related protein 1 antibody is an antibody directed against the LDL receptor-related protein 1 (LRP1), also known as CD91. LRP1 is a large endocytic receptor and signaling protein involved in various biological processes, including lipid metabolism, protein clearance, and cell signaling. In the context of airway inflammation, LRP1 acts as a receptor for Plasminogen Activator Inhibitor-1 (PAI-1). Blocking LRP1 with an antibody can inhibit PAI-1-mediated signaling pathways, such as the induction of Thymic Stromal Lymphopoietin (TSLP) in bronchial epithelial cells, which is relevant in allergic asthma and viral infections. This antibody is primarily used as a research tool to study the role of LRP1 in inflammatory and metabolic pathways.
