Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Band Therapeutics (also known as Guardian Therapeutics) is developing an aptamer-based therapeutic targeting Leucine-rich repeat-containing protein 15 (LRRC15) for the treatment of various cancers. LRRC15 is a protein frequently overexpressed on the surface of cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) and certain mesenchymal-like tumor cells within the tumor microenvironment. This aptamer is designed to bind specifically to LRRC15 on these tumor and stromal cells, potentially disrupting signaling pathways involved in tumor progression or serving as a targeting moiety for the delivery of therapeutic agents. The program is currently in the early stages of development, ranging from lead optimization to preclinical studies.
