Anti-Ly6C antibody refers to a class of monoclonal antibodies used primarily in preclinical research to target the Lymphocyte antigen 6 complex locus C (Ly6C) protein. Ly6C is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored cell surface protein expressed on various myeloid cells in mice, including inflammatory monocytes, neutrophils, and a subset of myeloid-derived suppressor cells (mMDSCs). In experimental models, these antibodies are utilized for the identification, characterization, and systemic depletion of Ly6C-positive cell populations to study their role in inflammation, infection, and tumor progression. In the context of glioblastoma research, anti-Ly6C antibodies have been investigated for their ability to deplete monocytic MDSCs, although their efficacy can be limited by the rapid systemic and local proliferation of these cells within the tumor microenvironment.
