Overview

scFv(MSLN) refers to a single-chain variable fragment (scFv) designed to specifically bind to mesothelin (MSLN), a cell-surface glycoprotein that is highly expressed in several solid tumors, including mesothelioma, pancreatic adenocarcinoma, and ovarian cancer, while showing limited expression in normal tissues. As a recombinant protein, it consists of the variable heavy (VH) and light (VL) chains of an anti-mesothelin monoclonal antibody joined by a flexible peptide linker. This fragment serves as a critical targeting moiety in various therapeutic modalities, most notably as the extracellular antigen-recognition domain of chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies and as a component of recombinant immunotoxins or bispecific antibodies. By binding to MSLN, the scFv facilitates the localized delivery of cytotoxic effects to tumor cells by directing effector cells or payloads to the tumor microenvironment.
