Overview

Anti-microRNA-1271-5p refers to a class of synthetic antisense oligonucleotides designed to specifically bind and sequester mature microRNA-1271-5p (miR-1271-5p). By inhibiting the activity of miR-1271-5p, these agents prevent the miRNA from binding to its target messenger RNAs (mRNAs), thereby de-repressing the expression of those genes. miR-1271-5p has been implicated in various pathological processes, including oncogenesis, where it may act as an oncomiR in certain contexts (e.g., promoting proliferation or metastasis), and in inflammatory conditions like osteoarthritis. Research-grade versions are widely used in functional genomics to elucidate the role of miR-1271-5p in disease pathways.
