Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Anti-MIP-1β neutralizing monoclonal antibody refers to a class of monoclonal antibodies designed to bind and neutralize macrophage inflammatory protein-1beta (MIP-1β), also known as C-C motif chemokine ligand 4 (CCL4). MIP-1β is a pro-inflammatory chemokine that acts as a chemoattractant for natural killer cells, monocytes, and other immune cells, signaling primarily through the CCR5 receptor. In preclinical research, neutralizing antibodies targeting MIP-1β have been investigated for their potential to ameliorate inflammatory and metabolic diseases, such as type 1 and type 2 diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and diabetic kidney disease (DKD). In these experimental models, inhibition of MIP-1β has been shown to protect pancreatic islet cells, reduce systemic and local renal inflammation, improve insulin resistance, and retard the progression of hyperglycemia and renal fibrosis.
