Anti-miR-10b antagomir is a chemically modified antisense oligonucleotide designed to inhibit the oncogenic microRNA-10b (miR-10b). miR-10b is significantly upregulated in high-grade gliomas, including glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), and is associated with poor patient prognosis. It plays a critical role in promoting tumor cell migration, invasion, and the maintenance of glioblastoma stem cells. The antagomir typically consists of a 2-O-methyl-modified RNA sequence that is perfectly complementary to miR-10b and often conjugated to cholesterol to enhance cellular uptake and stability. By sequestering miR-10b, the antagomir restores the expression of downstream tumor suppressor targets, thereby inhibiting the invasive phenotype of GBM cells and reducing tumor growth in preclinical models.
