Overview

anti-miR-194 is an antisense oligonucleotide (antagomir) designed to competitively bind and inhibit the activity of microRNA-194 (miR-194). In various cancers, including endometrial and colorectal cancers, miR-194 is frequently overexpressed and acts as an oncomiR by promoting cell migration, invasion, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). By sequestering mature miR-194, anti-miR-194 restores the expression of target genes that suppress tumor progression. While primarily utilized as a research tool to validate miR-194 as a therapeutic target, the modality represents a class of RNA-targeted therapies aimed at modulating oncogenic miRNA signatures.
