Overview

anti-miR-449b is a microRNA inhibitor (antagomir or antisense oligonucleotide) designed to target and sequester mature miR-449b. In research concerning endometrial cancer, miR-449b has been identified as a significantly upregulated microRNA in advanced-stage tumors compared to early-stage or normal tissue. By binding to miR-449b, this agent prevents the microRNA from downregulating its natural tumor-suppressive targets, thereby inhibiting the migration and invasion of cancer cells. Studies presented at the AACR have highlighted anti-miR-449b as a potential therapeutic candidate for endometrioid endometrial adenocarcinoma (EEC).
