Overview

The anti-miR-663 vector is a research tool designed to inhibit the activity of microRNA-663 (miR-663). miR-663 plays a role in mitochondria-to-nucleus retrograde signaling and epigenetically regulates the expression of nuclear-encoded respiratory chain subunits and assembly factors, including NDUFAF1, SDHAF2, UQCC2, and SCO1, with direct regulation of UQCC2. Inhibition of miR-663 by this vector has been shown to reduce OXPHOS complex activity, increase cellular proliferation in vitro, and promote tumor development in vivo in mice. This suggests that miR-663 normally acts to suppress tumor progression. The vector is used to study the role of miR-663 in biological processes such as breast tumorigenesis.
