Overview

Anti-Mitochondrial Fission Peptides (also referred to as Porosome-Peptide Therapy) is a preclinical peptide-based biologic being developed by the Viron Molecular Medicine Institute for the treatment of Alzheimer's Disease. The therapy is designed to restore the function of the neuronal porosome—the cell's specialized secretory portal—which is often compromised in neurodegenerative conditions. Additionally, the peptides target the mitochondrial fission pathway, aiming to inhibit or modulate excessive mitochondrial fragmentation, a hallmark of Alzheimer's pathology that leads to synaptic loss and neuronal death. By stabilizing mitochondrial dynamics and secretory machinery, this approach seeks to provide a neuroprotective effect and rescue cognitive function.
