Anti-mouse IL-1β monoclonal antibody is a research-grade biologic used in preclinical murine models to investigate the role of interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) in disease pathogenesis. It serves as a surrogate for human-targeted IL-1β inhibitors like canakinumab. In research settings, such as studies on atherosclerosis and clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP), this antibody is administered to mice to evaluate how blocking the IL-1β pathway affects plaque formation, inflammatory cell recruitment, and systemic inflammation. The antibody specifically neutralizes the mouse version of the cytokine, which is a key product of the NLRP3 inflammasome and a major driver of the cytokine hypothesis of cardiovascular disease.
