Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Anti-murine IL-1β (01BSUR) is a monoclonal antibody designed to specifically neutralize the murine form of interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β). Utilized primarily in preclinical research, particularly by the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research, this agent is employed to investigate the role of inflammasome-processed cytokines in inflammatory diseases. In mouse models of sickle cell disease (SCD), such as Townes mice, 01BSUR has been shown to significantly reduce TNF-α-induced leukocyte recruitment, adhesion, and extravasation in the microvasculature. Furthermore, it decreases the production of downstream inflammatory molecules like IL-6. By inhibiting the bio-active products of the activated inflammasome, this antibody helps alleviate vaso-occlusive-like processes and chronic inflammatory mechanisms associated with SCD.
