In studies of sickle cell disease (SCD) using Townes mice, SK113AE-4 has been shown to significantly reduce TNF-α-induced leukocyte recruitment, adhesion, and extravasation in the microvasculature. It also reduces the production of interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), a cytokine synergistically regulated by IL-18 and IL-12.
