Overview

Anti-murine TNF antibody refers to a class of monoclonal antibodies specifically designed to bind and neutralize murine tumor necrosis factor (TNF). These antibodies are primarily used as research tools in preclinical mouse models of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, such as the dextran sulfate sodium (DSS)-induced colitis model. In these settings, they serve as surrogates for human anti-TNF therapeutics (e.g., infliximab, adalimumab) to investigate the role of TNF in disease pathogenesis or to evaluate the efficacy of novel therapeutic candidates in combination or comparison studies. By inhibiting TNF signaling, these antibodies reduce the pro-inflammatory cascade, leading to improvements in clinical scores, histological damage, and mucosal healing in experimental models.
