Overview

anti-Neu monoclonal antibody 7.16.4 is a mouse IgG2a monoclonal antibody that targets the p185 HER2/neu (c-ErbB2) oncoprotein. It specifically recognizes the juxtamembrane/extracellular domain of rat neu and competes with 4D5 (the precursor of trastuzumab) for binding. Originally developed by Dr. Mark Greene and colleagues at the University of Pennsylvania, this antibody is widely used as a preclinical research tool to study HER2/neu-overexpressing cancers, particularly mammary carcinomas. It has been shown to inhibit tumor cell proliferation and transformation in vitro and in vivo, and is frequently utilized in combination studies with vaccines, chemotherapies, and other targeted agents to model clinical translation of HER2-targeted therapies.
