An **anti-NGAL antibody** (also known as anti-LCN2 or anti-lipocalin-2 antibody) is a monoclonal or polyclonal antibody designed to target and neutralize neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL, also known as lipocalin-2 or LCN2). NGAL is a secreted glycoprotein belonging to the lipocalin family that plays a key role in innate immunity, iron homeostasis, and inflammation. In oncology, NGAL is upregulated in aggressive solid tumors (such as lung, pancreatic, and breast cancers) where it promotes epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), cell invasion, metastasis, and immune evasion by driving macrophages toward an immunosuppressive phenotype. Neutralizing anti-NGAL antibodies have demonstrated preclinical efficacy in reducing tumor growth, inhibiting metastasis, and restoring anti-tumor T-cell infiltration, particularly when combined with immune checkpoint inhibitors. Additionally, anti-NGAL antibodies are widely utilized as diagnostic and research reagents in ELISA, immunohistochemistry (IHC), and lateral flow assays to detect NGAL as a biomarker for acute kidney injury (AKI) and cancer prognosis.
