anti-OPNc phosphothioate oligomer is a phosphorothioate-modified antisense DNA oligonucleotide (ASO) designed to selectively knock down the expression of osteopontin-c (OPNc), a splice variant of osteopontin (SPP1). Developed by researchers at the National Cancer Institute (INCA) in Brazil, this oligomer is used as a preclinical research tool to investigate the role of OPNc in mediating chemoresistance, cell survival, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in various cancer models, including breast cancer, ovarian cancer, and B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). By silencing OPNc, the oligomer downregulates P-glycoprotein (P-gp) expression and sensitizes drug-resistant cancer cells to chemotherapeutic agents such as doxorubicin and cisplatin.
