Overview

Anti-OSM monoclonal antibodies are a class of therapeutic biologics designed to neutralize Oncostatin M (OSM), a pleiotropic cytokine of the IL-6 family. OSM signaling through the gp130/OSMR complex is a key driver of inflammation and fibrosis in diseases such as systemic sclerosis (SSc) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Furthermore, recent research suggests that OSM contributes to immune evasion in hematological malignancies by promoting T-cell exhaustion and recruiting myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs). Investigational agents in this class, such as GSK2330811 and its predecessor GSK315234, aim to block these pathological processes by preventing OSM from interacting with its cell-surface receptors.
