Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Anti-PAD2 antibody is a preclinical monoclonal antibody developed by Pharma Foods International using its proprietary ALAgene® platform, which generates avian-derived antibodies. The therapeutic candidate targets peptidylarginine deiminase 2 (PAD2), an enzyme that catalyzes the conversion of arginine residues to citrulline. This citrullination process is a key driver in the pathogenesis of various autoimmune diseases, particularly rheumatoid arthritis, where citrullinated proteins act as neoantigens that trigger an autoimmune response. By neutralizing PAD2, the antibody aims to reduce the production of these autoantigens and mitigate the underlying inflammatory process in autoimmune conditions.
