Anti-parvovirus IgY is an egg yolk-derived immunoglobulin (IgY) developed by the Immunology Research Institute in Gifu for the treatment and prevention of canine parvovirus (CPV) infection. Produced by immunizing hens with CPV antigens, the resulting IgY antibodies are harvested from egg yolks. These antibodies provide passive immunity by binding to and neutralizing the virus in the gastrointestinal tract, thereby preventing viral entry into host cells and reducing the severity of clinical symptoms. This approach is particularly useful in veterinary medicine as a cost-effective alternative to mammalian-derived antibodies.
