Overview

Anti-progranulin shRNA is a short hairpin RNA (shRNA) designed to silence the expression of progranulin (PGRN), a growth factor that acts as an autocrine regulator in various cancers, including bladder cancer. By targeting progranulin mRNA for degradation via the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, this shRNA inhibits tumor cell motility, invasion, and anchorage-independent growth. Research conducted at Thomas Jefferson University and other institutions has demonstrated that progranulin depletion using this shRNA significantly reduces in vivo tumor formation in xenograft and orthotopic bladder cancer models and increases the sensitivity of cancer cells to cisplatin.
