An anti-Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteriophage cocktail is a therapeutic approach utilizing a combination of multiple lytic bacteriophages (viruses that infect bacteria) to specifically target and destroy *Pseudomonas aeruginosa* bacteria. This modality is being developed as an alternative to traditional antibiotics, particularly for treating infections caused by multidrug-resistant strains. Pherecydes Pharma (which merged with ERYTECH Pharma to form Phaxiam Therapeutics) developed several products based on this platform. [15] One example is **PP-1131**, a cocktail of 12 natural lytic phages investigated in the Phase 1/2 PhagoBurn trial for the topical treatment of burn wound infections. [6] The trial was terminated due to insufficient efficacy, which was linked to a lower-than-expected concentration of the phages being administered. [9, 8] Another preclinical program, **PneumoPhage**, was being developed for *P. aeruginosa* respiratory infections. [11] The mechanism of action involves the lytic phages infecting bacterial cells, replicating, and causing cell rupture (lysis), which reduces the bacterial load. [16]
