Drug intelligence / Profile preview
An anti-PSGL-1 monoclonal antibody is a therapeutic agent designed to target P-selectin glycoprotein ligand-1 (PSGL-1, also known as CD162), a mucin-like glycoprotein expressed on the surface of most white blood cells. PSGL-1 plays a critical role in immune cell trafficking and leukocyte rolling by binding to selectins (P-, E-, and L-selectin) on activated endothelial cells and platelets. In oncology, PSGL-1 acts as an immune checkpoint regulator that promotes T-cell exhaustion and limits anti-tumor immunity; blocking this pathway can enhance T-cell activation and promote tumor regression. In inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, PSGL-1 agonists or antagonists are being developed to modulate T-cell homeostasis and leukocyte recruitment, offering therapeutic potential in conditions such as ulcerative colitis, psoriasis, asthma, and graft-versus-host disease.
