Overview

Anti-PSMA CAR NK-92 is an experimental, off-the-shelf chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) natural killer (NK) cell therapy being investigated for the treatment of prostate cancer, including castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC). The therapy utilizes the NK-92 cell line, which is genetically engineered to express a CAR specific for the human prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA). PSMA is a protein that is significantly overexpressed on the surface of prostate cancer cells. Upon administration, these engineered NK cells recognize and bind to PSMA-expressing tumor cells, triggering targeted cytotoxic responses and cell lysis. Research has also explored combining this therapy with anti-PD-L1 monoclonal antibodies to overcome immune evasion mechanisms, as the CAR NK cells can induce PD-L1 expression upon interaction with tumor cells.
