Overview

Anti-PSMA CAR NK cells are genetically engineered natural killer (NK) cells that express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) targeting **prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA)**, which is highly expressed on prostate cancer cells. These cells are designed to recognize and kill PSMA-expressing tumor cells, especially in **castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC)**. The mechanism involves CAR-mediated antigen recognition, cytotoxicity, degranulation, and interferon-γ secretion, providing a targeted immunotherapeutic approach beneficial both as a monotherapy and in combination with other agents such as monoclonal antibodies (e.g., anti-PD-L1)[2][3][5][6]. Notably, these engineered NK cells provide a potential "off-the-shelf" universal cell therapy product[2]. Primary development has focused on the NK-92 cell line, a clinically validated, renewable NK cell source[2][3][5].
