This is an experimental allogeneic chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) natural killer (NK) cell therapy targeting prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA). Developed by the Cancer Institute and Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, it is designed for the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). The therapy involves genetically modifying NK cells to express CARs that specifically recognize PSMA, a protein highly expressed on the surface of prostate cancer cells. This engineering allows the NK cells to precisely target and eliminate tumor cells while potentially offering a better safety profile compared to CAR-T cell therapies. It is currently being evaluated in an early phase 1 clinical trial to assess safety, tolerability, and preliminary efficacy in patients who have exhausted standard treatment options.
