Overview

Anti-recombinant gC1qR antibody refers to monoclonal or polyclonal antibodies generated against the purified recombinant form of the gC1qR protein (also known as C1qBP, HABP1, or p32). In the context of oncology research, particularly for acute myeloid leukemia (AML), these antibodies are designed to target gC1qR, which is overexpressed on the surface of malignant cells. gC1qR serves as a proliferative molecular signal and provides a platform for the generation of angiogenic and metastatic factors. Research presented at AACR 2018 compared these antibodies to those generated against whole U937 cells, noting that while anti-recombinant antibodies can decrease cell viability, antibodies raised against the native endogenous protein on mammalian cells may offer superior targeting and potency.
