Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Anti-renalase (RNLS) humanized monoclonal antibody is a preclinical-stage immuno-oncology therapeutic being developed by Bessor Pharma under an exclusive license from Yale University. The antibody targets renalase (RNLS), a secreted flavoprotein that is overexpressed in several major cancers—including melanoma, pancreatic, bladder, lung, and kidney cancers—where it acts as a survival factor to promote tumor cell survival and suppress host immune defenses. By blocking renalase signaling, the antibody inhibits anti-apoptotic pathways (such as MAPK, PI3K, and JAK/STAT3), polarizes tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) toward an inflammatory, tumor-killing phenotype, and increases CD4+ T-cell activation. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that the lead humanized clone, K16 (m28-K16), can regress tumors resistant to PD-1 inhibitors and shows synergistic efficacy when combined with anti-PD-1 therapies.
