Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Anti-RUNX3 antisense oligonucleotide is an oligonucleotide-based therapeutic designed to target and inhibit the expression of Runt-related transcription factor 3 (RUNX3). RUNX3 is a key transcription factor involved in the convergent differentiation pathway of synovial CD8+ tissue-resident memory T cells (TRM) from circulating effector memory (TEM) and central memory (TCM) T cells in the arthritic synovium. By blocking RUNX3 expression, the antisense oligonucleotide inhibits TRM formation and differentiation, thereby reducing joint-specific memory and preventing arthritis flares. Developed by researchers at Boston Children's Hospital, anti-RUNX3 antisense oligonucleotide is being investigated in preclinical models of rheumatoid arthritis and chronic arthritis.
