Drug intelligence / Profile preview
COGNANO's anti-SARS-CoV-2 VHH antibody is a preclinical-stage neutralizing nanobody (single-domain antibody) derived from alpaca immune repertoires. It specifically targets the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein. By binding to the spike protein, the antibody sterically hinders the interaction between the virus and the host cell's ACE2 receptor, thereby neutralizing the viral infection. The VHH modality offers advantages such as high stability, small size, and the potential for alternative delivery routes like inhalation or nasal spray, as well as broad-spectrum activity against various SARS-CoV-2 variants. This candidate is being developed for both therapeutic and diagnostic applications.
