Drug intelligence / Profile preview
An anti-SELE antibody is a monoclonal antibody designed to target E-selectin (SELE, CD62E), a cell adhesion molecule transiently expressed on vascular endothelial cells in response to inflammatory cytokines. By binding to E-selectin, the antibody blocks its interaction with ligands such as CD44 or sialyl Lewis X (sLeX) on circulating cells. This disruption inhibits leukocyte adhesion and extravasation, which is relevant in inflammatory diseases like psoriasis and rheumatoid arthritis, as well as in sickle cell disease vaso-occlusive crises. In oncology, targeting the SELE-CD44 axis on endothelial cells can suppress tumor cell proliferation, metastasis, and chemotherapy resistance, making anti-SELE antibodies potential therapeutic candidates or adjuncts to chemotherapy.
