Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Anti-snake venom monoclonal cocktail is an investigational monoclonal antibody cocktail being developed by Mediclone Biotech for the treatment of snakebite envenomation. Funded in part by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) of India, the therapy is designed as an alternative to traditional equine-derived polyclonal antivenoms. It consists of a cocktail of monoclonal F(ab')2 fragments intended to neutralize the venom toxins of India's 'Big Four' venomous snakes: the Indian cobra (*Naja naja*), common krait (*Bungarus caeruleus*), Russell's viper (*Daboia russelii*), and saw-scaled viper (*Echis carinatus*). The program is currently in preclinical development.
