Overview

Anti-sortilin antibody is a preclinical-stage monoclonal antibody being developed by Staidson Biopharmaceutical for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. The antibody targets sortilin (also known as SORT1 or neurotensin receptor 3), a multi-ligand type-1 transmembrane glycoprotein that plays a critical role in protein trafficking within the lysosomal and endosomal pathways. In neurodegenerative contexts, sortilin acts as a clearance receptor for progranulin (PGRN), a neuroprotective protein. By binding to sortilin and blocking its interaction with progranulin, the antibody is intended to increase extracellular progranulin levels, thereby potentially reducing neuroinflammation and promoting neuronal survival. This therapeutic strategy aims to address underlying pathological processes in Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders by modulating protein trafficking and inflammatory pathways.
