Anti-STEAP1 CAR T-cells are a preparation of autologous T lymphocytes that have been genetically modified to express a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) targeting the tumor-associated antigen six transmembrane epithelial antigen of the prostate 1 (STEAP1). This modification enables the T cells to recognize and bind to STEAP1-expressing tumor cells, leading to their activation and targeted cytotoxicity against these cancer cells. The therapy is being developed primarily for advanced prostate cancers, including metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer and metastatic prostatic adenocarcinoma. Preclinical studies show activity even at low STEAP1 expression levels and suggest potential synergy with other immunomodulatory agents such as IL-12 fusion proteins[1][2][3].
