anti-TDP-43 antibody

anti-TDP-43 antibody is a therapeutic monoclonal antibody developed by AC Immune using its proprietary SupraAntigen platform. It is designed to target and bind to pathological aggregates of TAR DNA-binding protein 43 (TDP-43), a protein that misfolds and accumulates in the brains of patients with various neurodegenerative disorders. By targeting these aggregates, the antibody aims to facilitate their clearance and prevent the cell-to-cell spread of pathology, thereby slowing disease progression. The program was primarily focused on treating amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD-TDP), and TDP-43-positive Alzheimer's disease. Although it was planned for clinical entry, development of this specific candidate was subsequently discontinued.
