Overview

Anti-Thy1 antibody is a therapeutic monoclonal antibody candidate designed to target and deplete Thy1-positive (CD90+) cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) within the glioblastoma (GBM) microenvironment. CAFs are key regulators of the tumor niche, contributing to extracellular matrix (ECM) deposition and conferring resistance to standard treatments such as radiation and temozolomide. By specifically targeting Thy1, which is highly upregulated in GBM CAFs compared to other cells in the tumor microenvironment, this antibody aims to disrupt the pro-tumorigenic niche. Preclinical research, particularly from the University of California San Francisco, has demonstrated that intranasal administration of an anti-Thy1 antibody can lead to ECM depletion and improved survival in immunocompetent murine models of glioblastoma, suggesting a novel strategy for overcoming therapeutic resistance in solid tumors.
